Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster joins GT line-up

Mercedes has added an AMG GT S Roadster to its line-up to bridge the gap between the AMG GT and AMG GT C Roadsters. This monstrosity is propelled by a 6.7-litre V8 Turbo Diesel that delivers 700 hp of power and 1,000 Nm of torque - and that's not even the range topping variant. That is paired to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G transmission. This would send buyers back £3,195 ($4,330). Talking about numbers, you get 515bhp and 670Nm which enables the vehicle to hit 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds and top out at nearly 310 kmph.

First deliveries of the GT S are due in July this year, and although Mercedes is yet to confirm prices, the current AMG GT pricing structure suggests customers should expect to pay around £124,700.

Standard open sports auto Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster includes a system AMG Ride Control and AMG Dynamic Select, effective brake mechanisms of composite materials, led optics and original alloy wheel rims, dimensions 19 and 20 inches. It also runs a narrower body when compared to the GT C and balls-out GT R model.

It features AMG's adaptive damping, something the GT misses out on, while also gaining a rear-axle LSD.

"With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an emotional open-air experience", stated AMG Chairman, Tobias Moers, in the car's press release.

Inside, the cabin of the Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster benefits from its upholstery covered in black ARTICO man-made leather with DINAMICA microfiber.

Options include the £3,195 Premium equipment line, which adds Keyless-Go entry, a Burmester surround sound system, reversing camera with parking assist; illuminated door sills with "AMG" lettering and a Mirror package.
