Peter Crouch reveals what he thinks of this Manchester United side

Manchester United secured the point they needed to finish second in the Premier League with a tiresome 0-0 draw at West Ham United on Thursday.

"If we lose the match against West Ham and we need the point against Watford, I play Carrick the same", Mourinho added.

"We came second. I am not totally happy (because) that is not my nature, but since the moment we felt it was impossible to finish first, we had the target to finish second and it is done today".

David Moyes will be pleased with the performance of one of his young stars against his former employers, despite having been publicly critical of him for his recent performance during the heavy defeat to Arsenal a few weeks ago.

"I said at the start of the season about Marcus Rashford that he needs to play games", he told Sky Sports.

"But when the game goes to 70, 75 minutes, you don't win, you don't lose, you do the job".

"I think we deserved that, the boys deserve that and to be the runner-up is not bad in a league of this dimension and this difficulty".

Mourinho made eight changes for the game but the new crop failed to impress, and Merson said he noticed something about the players' performance.

Finishing second means United have attained their highest league finish in the post-Ferguson era, but it's been an inconsistent campaign at Old Trafford.

As it was, the point was all United required to make sure they will finish above Tottenham, the only club that was capable of catching them before last night.

"Criticising Manchester United has been all too easy this season", Crouch wrote. "The best way to fight for the point was to try to win the match and be safe, which was what we tried".

A lacklustre United display was reflected in Pogba again failing to take control of the game. "It's not really for me to say but I'm pretty sure the people that are involved in that will be trying as hard as they can to make the stadium fell more like home".

"I am not so sad as I normally am when my players end their career because he's going to be with us".
