'Avengers' Wins at Box Office on Mother's Day Weekend

In India, Infinity War took down another Disney property, The Jungle Book, to become the highest grossing debut of any Western film in the country, with a take of around $40 million. This past Friday it gained $16 million bringing its domestic total to $502 million and its global total to $1.3 billion.

The movie's domestic haul of $61.8 million was the fourth-biggest gross for a film in its third weekend behind Black Panther ($66 million), Avatar ($68 million) Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($90 million) after racing past the first Avengers ($56M), not adjusted for inflation.

In China, the "Infinity War" haul compares with the previous highest-opening score of $188 million, registered earlier this year by "Monster Hunt 2".

The third Avengers sequel continues to dominate as it enters its third week at the box office.

One of his followers pointed out to him that he should have checked out the MCU starter pack before watching the movie. Infinity War shows almost all the Marvel superheroes come in together to save the galaxy from Thanos, a mad Titan. The film received a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences and played to a crowd that was 70% female and 80% of the overall audience was over the age of 25. The Melissa McCarthy-led, back-to-college comedy "Life of the Party" beat "Breaking In", a thriller about a mom battling a home invasion. The movie now sits at $1.606 billion worldwide and $547.8 million domestic. A market that has grown so large, that the only reason we are still seeing Transformers and Fast & Furious films is because China loves that shit.

Four of the top ten films on the all time global list belong to Marvel Studios. Just hit the buttons on the top of this page. With that said, it will soon face some stiff competition, with Deadpool 2 opening this week and Solo: A Star Wars Story the week after. The box office will get into the full summer movie season swing when "Deadpool 2" opens next weekend to kick off a constant string of big releases. There is no word on whether it will also release in China after a minor delay or not.
