Cambridge Analytica Could Be Reborn Under a Different Name

Reuters reported that Facebook executives "have apologized for the data-harvesting, pledged to investigate others who collected Facebook user data and reduced the amount of data available to similar app developers now".

His access to the Commissioner's jurisdiction arose because Carroll's data had been processed by Cambridge Analytica in the UK.

Facebook said its own investigation into the company's use of its data would continue.

The case could set a precedent for the 240 million other us voters looking to get their data back under British data laws. While all wrongdoings by the massive data firm have been denied, it has been alleged that the firm illegally collected data generated from a quiz taken by Facebook users.

Here's what you need to know about the Cambridge Analytica and Facebook data siphoning fiasco.

Carroll requested his data back in September 2017, before the most recent Facebook controversy, but wasn't happy with what he got back.

The findings of the poll, which was conducted from April 26 to 30, may give clues to advertisers and analysts as to whether Facebook's business suffered any blowback from the scandal, which came to light in late March, after reports by The Guardian and The New York Times. The information ordered to be released includes information on what the firm did with the voter's data and where it got it. In the 2016 presidential election, it worked first for Sen.

However, only 23 percent of Facebook users said they have "total control" over the information they store on the platform, with 49 percent believing they have "some control" and 20 percent said they had "no control".

But, Facebook has since revealed the number was actually as high as 87 million.

The data firm suspended its chief executive, Alexander Nix, after recordings emerged of him making a series of controversial claims, including boasts that Cambridge Analytica had a pivotal role in the election of Donald Trump.

In a firmly worded letter to Facebook's public policy chief, Rebecca Stimson, he said: "We hope that he (Zuckerberg) will respond positively to our request, but if not the Committee will resolve to issue a formal summons for him to appear when he is next in the United Kingdom".
