Congress, BJP lock horns, indulge in slugfest over reaction to rapes

Amid worldwide outrage over the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua district of Indian Occupied Kashmir, Chauhan has given a freaky theory, saying enemy agents are involved in stirring unrest in the contested valley.

She said that women and children have no religion and that no politics should be done over such issues.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP MP and Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi told the media: "In Kathua rape case, a fair probe is going on and strictest action has been demanded against the culprits". "They were secular then, but the BJP has vitiated the atmosphere so badly in Jammu and Kashmir that these individuals have now turned communal", Azad said.

"But a new twist came in June end and July past year, when the rape victim wrote to the Chief Minister and Prime Minister alleging she was raped by the MLA", she said.

He said the Congress Jammu and Kashmir unit was consistently raising its voice against the perpetrators and seeking justice for the victim.

Continuing to slam the Congress, Prasad said that besides giving lip service to the Dalits for over 50 years, the nation's Grand Old Party had intentionally kept a large portion of the population poor and illiterate so it could continue to exploit them as their vote bank.

He said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah feared losing the election and therefore, he was contesting from two different constituencies.

Criticising the governments claim of amending the POCSO Act to grant death penalty to rape convicts, he said, "Suddenly the Modi government is talking about reforms in the POCSO Act?"

He also criticised the UP government for not arresting accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and asked whether it was true that the lawmaker would have not been taken into custody had the Allahabad High Court not used harsh words.

"Where are those women BJP leaders now".

The government has already announced that it would give rewards to the medal winners from the state, he added. Where are their tweets?
