Winner Of $533 Million Mega Millions Jackpot To Claim Prize

The victor of last month's $553 million Mega Millions jackpot stepped forward Friday to claim his prize in New Jersey.

The winning ticket was sold at the Lukoil South gas station on Route 23 in Riverdale on March 30. It's the fourth largest jackpot in the game's history. The winning numbers were 11, 28, 31, 46, and 59.

He told reporters on Friday about the moment when he learned he was the victor, during the March 30 drawing. And I wasn't ready to share with her yet, so I told her, "Absolutely not, mother"'.

'It was truly wonderful.

He wouldn't disclose what city in MI, but he's a native to the mitten who was just moved to New Jersey in July for his work.

The victor of a $533 million lottery jackpot wasn't sure he could believe his eyes. He said he first misread his chosen numbers on the lottery ticket, and only realized he won after looking at the numbers a second time.

The owner of the Lukoil gas station where Wahl bought the ticket from received $30,000 for selling the winning ticket, according to lottery officials.

"Actually the weird thing is my mom actually called me before I wanted to tell her and told me 'I heard somebody in New Jersey won the lottery, was it you?'" Wahl said.

Mega Millions can be played in 44 U.S. states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"We cried a lot together as a family, hugged a lot", Wahl said.

He chose to take the jackpot as a lump sum cash payout, which lottery officials said comes out to $324.6 million. "Family, friends, people in need", he said, NorthJersey.com reported. If he could have stayed private, he would have, Wahl said, but New Jersey doesn't allow that.
