TV host apologizes to Parkland student

Those calls have been met with equally passionate responses by Trump supporters who say they are determined to use their buying power to stand with the president and his family.

If this seems somewhat familiar, you may remember that it was about a year ago when longtime Fox News host Bill O'Reilly took what he said was a pre-planned break while dealing with an exodus of advertisers from his program.

Hogg is a survivor of the 14 February mass shooting that killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Parkland suburb of Fort Lauderdale.

"I'll be off next week for Easter break with my kids".

Hogg responded to Ingraham's original comments by tweeting a list of her advertisers and urging his followers to contact them.

"On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the courageous victims of Parkland", Ingraham wrote on Twitter. The companies announcing that they are cancelling their ads are: Nutrish, the pet food line created by celebrity chef Rachael Ray, travel website TripAdvisor Inc, online home furnishings seller Wayfair Inc, the world's largest packaged food company, Nestle SA, online streaming service Hulu, travel website Expedia Group Inc and online personal shopping service Stitch Fix.

Ingraham apologized the next day, explaining that "any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA".

Hogg was referring to a comment Ingraham made in February, in which she criticized the National Basketball Association player for "talking politics" in interviews.

On Thursday, after at least two companies had taken action, Ingraham apologized in a series of tweets.

- Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) March 29, 2018I 100% agree an apology in an effort just to save your advertisers is not enough. However, Hogg did not accept and continued to apply pressure.

"I would love to see her go", Hogg told the New York Daily News after Ingraham's vacation announcement.

On Wednesday morning, Ingraham tweeted a story from a conservative news site that described Hogg as a "Gun Rights Provocateur" - and said he hadn't gotten into four University of California schools he applied to.

He told CNN: "I think it's great that corporate America is standing with me".
