Here's the moment Slovenia ripped out Team USA's heart in OT

Since the 1998 Nagano Games, the world's best hockey players meet every four years in the ultimate display of national pride and for worldwide bragging rights.

After the USA took a 2-0 lead, Mursak scored the equalizer with 1:37 remaining in the third period - and his team's goalie pulled - then sniped the overtime victor. "We need to be our best and play our best for two weeks to win this tournament", the coach added. The Slovenians were clearly overmatched in the first period - when they only mustered three shots - as the Americans stormed to a strong start. Team USA's next preliminary round game will be against Slovakia at 10:10 p.m ET Thursday night in the United States (12:10 p.m. on Friday in PyeongChang). USA captain Brian Gionta is off for tripping 12:42 into the third, and the Americans have a penalty to kill clinging to a 2-1 lead.

Team USA still gains a point in the standings by making it to overtime.

The U.S. had heavily outplayed Slovenia through the first 40 minutes and led 2-0 entering the third.

The U.S. netminder had very little chance to stop either deciding goal.
