Trump administration proposes $18b for border wall extension

President Trump made a border wall between the USA and Mexico one of his campaign's promises, and while the issue has repeatedly been kicked down the road, it appears that the President will pull out all the stops in order to get funding for a border wall, including offering to protect undocumented immigrants.

The administration asked lawmakers for $18bn in order to add 316 miles of walls and fencing along the border and bolster 407 miles of existing barriers, according to a financial blueprint sent to senators by US Customs and Border Protection on Friday.

Trump has pressured Democrats in Congress to approve the funding in exchange for allowing undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children, and who had been protected by the Obama-era program known as DACA, to remain.

At the time of the repeal, both President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions claimed that the "Dreamers" were lawbreakers, and that "virtually all" the "top legal experts" believed that DACA was unconstitutional.

The plan on border security came in response to a request by U.S. Sen.

President Trump this week asked Congress for $18-B to pay for the 1st phase of The Wall's construction.

If that work was completed, more than half of the almost 2,000 mile-border with Mexico would be lined with a physical barrier. President Trump has also promised to build a wall with Mexico as a centerpiece of his presidency but offered few details of where it would be built, when and at what cost.
