Wind chill advisory in effect until Wednesday

New Years Eve lows around Branch County are expected to get down to five below with wind chills between five and 15 below zero.

Temperatures Tuesday will reach the lower 30s with sunshine through the day.

Cold temperatures and bitter wind chills will continue across the area today and tomorrow. Sub-freezing temperatures will return Wednesday night and persist through at least Friday afternoon.

Very cold wind chills are expected in some areas, particularly western Maryland, according to the NWS. The overnight period is still bitterly cold.

Hard freeze watch from Monday evening through Wednesday morning: Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington, central and coastal Mobile, central and inland Baldwin counties.

The National Weather Service is looking at Thursday as the next chance for snow.




"Arctic air continues to flow into northern OH and northwest Pennsylvania", the National Weather Service states.

"We'll have one, 1" snow so far this season. Wind chill values remain in the single digits.

We are in the midst of a long stretch of cold weather.
