Griezmann will leave Atletico: Simeone

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has said that Antoine Griezmann would be allowed to leave the club, if the right opportunity comes along.

Griezmann's current deal with Los Rojiblancos runs until 2022 and is thought to include a release clause of around €100m (£87m).

Griezmann at first reacted to the criticism by tweeting: "Calm down friends, I'm a fan of the Harlem Globetrotters and of this great era".

United were heavily linked with Griezmann during the last transfer window, with the 26-year-old hinting he would welcome the switch before committing to Atletico Madrid for the current campaign.

Griezmann could be seen donning an Afro wig while wearing an NBA vest, striped shorts and clutching a basketball by his side. "I am not ungrateful", he told L'Equipe.

The Catalonian's are still searching for their Neymar replacement, and a player with the stature of Griezmann would be just about as good as it gets - and a remarkably simpler transfer than that of summer target Philippe Coutinho.

When asked to reveal new details on Ozil's contract extension, Wenger said, "I don't know how close but he will stay here until the end of the season for sure".

Fernando Torres, Kevin Gameiro, Nico Gaitan and Sime Vrsaljko are some of those to be linked with a move away from Atletico having played a peripheral role during the opening part of the season. "He has not had much luck with injuries, but I am happy with him and Juanfran, and I need both of them to compete for what we want".
