Winter Weather Advisory: Snow is coming, got milk (and bread)?

A slight chance of snow returns to the forecast Sunday night, Monday and Monday night, with a 30-20 percent chance of snow, says the latest, local NWS forecast.

Philadelphia reported an official 1.3 inches at 1 p.m., making this the first official snowfall of the season - and that's right about on schedule, based on long-term records. Miramar Beach and Destin were two location in the northwestern part of the state to report snow flurries. The heavy snow band moved across Austin and San Antonio, to Houston and the beaches of Galveston and Corpus Christi, where 7 inches of snow fell in some areas.

Snow accumulations will be dependent on temperatures and precipitation intensity.

On Thursday, Delta Air Lines canceled hundreds of flights coming in and out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport - the busiest in the world.

Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is under a winter weather advisory, while Jackson, Mississippi, is under a winter weather warning.

A moderate impact on evening travel is expected with snow covered roads in many towns. In summary, the higher amounts and the longest duration of light snow is expected east and southeast. Motorists should use caution on wet roads.

Up to 5 inches of snow could fall there today, the weather service said.
