YELLOW SNOW WARNING: Heavy snow forecast in Bradford for Sunday

The Road Safety Authority this morning also issued a black ice warning.

"Snow showers will continue to affect parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, northern England and parts of the Midlands", reads the weather warning on the official Met Office website.

Weather bosses say the snow will be much worse than expected, with seven counties told to get prepared.

Met Eireann are also urging people to take care on roads and footpaths in the icy conditions.

Met √Čireann has issued a yellow status snow and ice warning for the country.

There will be a wind warning in Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry from 3 am, Thursday morning to 8 pm Thursday evening.

There is now a weather warning in place for snow and ice and it is valid until 6:00pm on Saturday. Probably some icy stretches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

This follows a wind warning which has been put in place until this evening at 8pm.

Widespread sharp ground frost will form tonight along with icy patches ahead of another cold day on Friday. Saturday night will be cold, with very heavy rain spreading up from the southwest overnight and some snow showers. Maximum temperatures will be 2C...

Coastal areas should be milder with temperatures closer to 5 or 6 degrees.
