Soulcalibur VI Announced At The Game Awards 2017

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. returns to the stage of history with SOULCALIBUR VI for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and STEAM for PC.

Soul Calibur VI comes out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometimes in 2018.

The soul still burns in the 1998 3D arena sword fighter series, as this next entry is slated for a 2018 release, just in time for the franchise's 20 anniversary.

The trailer for Soul Calibur VI was short but sweet.

Interestingly, the story takes place in the 16th Century, and will actually revisit events from the original SoulCalibur in order to uncover "hidden truths". One of the key new gameplay changes is the introduction of "Reversal Edge", which allows players to "defend against the opponent's attack and directly counter with a powerful strike highlighted through a dynamic camera". We will continue to update this with more information as we get it.

The game uses the Unreal Engine 4, but no exact dates for release are given yet.

The weapons and character roster is apparently "stellar" and even more so when "combined with a simple control layout". However, few have been able to master weapon-based fighting like SoulCalibur.

It's now pencilled in for a 2018 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
