Ohio State 31, MI 20: Wolverines battle, but come up short again

MI lost a two-touchdown lead in the first half and a six-point lead in the second and Ohio State did enough Saturday, notching a 31-20 win over the Wolverines. Fox Sports sideline report Jenny Taft later said Barrett had been dealing with a meniscus problem in his right knee.

O'Korn overthrew three open receivers in the first quarter, but he did connect with tight end Zach Gentry for a 27-yard gain on the Wolverines' first touchdown drive. The Potomac, MD native completed 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards, also managing 24 yards on the ground despite a reputation as a more pocket-oriented passer than Barrett. Either way, though, the Badgers will face a tough task in limiting the success of Ohio State's quarterback - as the Wolverines just learned the hard, depressing way.

Meanwhile, Michigan jumped out to a 14-0 lead three seconds into the second quarter. At least the Buckeyes should feel good about Haskins after seeing the way he played on Saturday. He stayed down on the field before limping off, and he did not return after he was replaced by Dwayne Haskins.

JT Barrett says that he will play in the Big Ten Championship Game next weekend against Wisconsin despite his knee injury.

O'Korn finished the game 17-for-32 for 195 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The extra-point try was blocked.

The Buckeyes added onto their lead with a 44-yard field goal from Sean Nuernberger with 10:21 to play in the fourth quarter.

The Wolverines entered halftime tied, but the outcome could have been more favorable after 30 minutes.

Earlier in the drive, the Buckeyes faced a third-and-two on their own 33-yard line, but Barrett fought his way to a six-yard gain and a new set of downs.

MI began the drive at the OSU 5 after a 42-yard punt return from Donovan Peoples-Jones and a holding penalty on the Buckeyes. According to head coach Urban Meyer, Barrett was hit on the sideline by a cameraman.
