Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro announced with specialist track modifications

Revealed today - well, a design sketch at least - the AMR Pro sets out to re-write what a track auto can do too, with Red Bull - partners in the AML Valkyrie project - saying it will be able to perform like an F1 vehicle. Along with F1-inspired carbon-carbon brakes, the track vehicle features smaller, 18-inch wheels to accommodate Michelin racing tires. The price? Well, considering the standard Valkyrie is said to cost between $2.6 and $4 million, the AMR Pro will undoubtedly be more than that - think more in the region of $5 million.

It's the track-only, even more focused derivative capable of laptimes 'to rival recent Formula One cars, ' according to Aston Martin.

The 25 owners - or "rich lucky bastards", as we like to call them - are also going to gain access to the same training regime as Red Bull Racing drivers, because you can't weigh 220 pounds and expect to get the most out of the AMR Pro.

We already know Aston Martin's self-professed goal for the track-only version of its upcoming hypercar is for it to lap Silverstone Circuit "as quick or quicker" than a Formula One vehicle, but we now know how it hopes to achieve that. Output for the car's Rimac Energy Recovery System will remain the same but its control systems will be reprogrammed for optimum track output.

"However, with the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro we have the freedom to create an extreme evolution that makes no such concessions". The windshield is made from polycarbonate material, the carbon fiber bodywork is lighter and molded racing seats replace the standard ones. It sounds like it'll be the wildest track-day vehicle out there. While the core elements of the road and track versions are shared, every aspect of the AMR Pro - aerodynamics, chassis, powertrain and weight - has been optimised to significantly extend the performance envelope. "One that's propelling Aston Martin and 25 of our most passionate customers into a new and extraordinary realm". It's a remarkable project. Womp womp. Deliveries start in 2020, so you'll have to wait at least that long to fork over your firstborn child if a used one comes up for sale.

This is the mighty Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, and it wants to eat you alive. Indeed, Aston Martin claim the vehicle will be able to equal the sort of lap times achieved by a current LMP1 or F1 auto, although given the simply massive aerodynamic tunnels underneath it, and a similar "barely clothed single-seater" aesthetic, that's not really a surprising revelation.
