One person in custody after stabbing at Mall of America, authorities say

Police say one of the men was stabbed before he was able to disarm the suspect.

Two other people that were with the victim ran to help, and confronted the suspect.

Their alleged assailant, Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, is being held on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Authorities have one person in custody after two people were hurt during a stabbing in the Mall of America in Minneapolis on Sunday.

Speaking at a news briefing Sunday night, Bloomington Police officials described how the suspect snuck into the men's room - as they were modeling outfits for friends outside - and tried swiping some of their belongings.

The second victim, who was believed to be a family member or friend of the other victim, was stabbed after intervening. The suspect also was wounded.

Both adult males were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. "By the time we got to the main area - the men's department is to the right - more police started running in with their guns drawn". Schwieters added she talked to a man who might have seen the suspect before the stabbing. She said she hid underneath clothing and called police.
