Emenalo resigns from post of Chelsea's Technical Director

"'This has been a very hard decision to make, but one I believe is right for both myself and my family, and the club", he told the Chelsea's official website. I wish Chelsea every success and look forward to following the club's future triumphs from afar, ' he added.

Emenalo is said to have been a "vital element" at Chelsea under the Russian, having overseen the recruitment of stars such as Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Cesar Azpilicueta as well as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, whose departures "frustrated" the former Nigeria worldwide.

Emenalo brought his 10-year association with the club to an end following the 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

It's understood that Antonio Conte was not an admirer of Emenalo, who was a key player in recruitment, although the latter remained supportive of the Italian coach.

The former Nigeria global first joined "The Blues" as opposition scout under manager Avram Grant and rose to become technical director.

'I am very sorry to see Michael leave Chelsea, and I would like to thank him for all his help and support since I arrived at this club.

I need an opportunity to get to see my young kids grow and also to step back and reflect on the work that I have done here and the things that we have been able to accomplish together in this great club.

Emenalo was heavily involved with the club's scouting department, and a largely barren summer saw them miss out on a number of Conte's first-choice signings.

With his help, Chelsea have won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League while Emenalo has been at the club.
