Rand Paul assaulted in home, man arrested

According to KSP, after they got to Paul's house, they determined Rene Boucher intentionally assaulted Paul, causing a minor injury.

Police were called to the home shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Rand Paul, R-Ky., has been arrested after allegedly attacking the politician at Paul's home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Friday afternoon, according to The Washington Post.

Boucher was booked into the Warren County Regional Jail.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, CNN reports. "The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police".

The release did not provide details of the assault or the nature of Paul's injury.




"Kelley and I appreciate the overwhelming support after Friday's unfortunate event". He is an ophthalmologist who has practiced in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he moved with his wife in 1993.

According to the neighbor, Senator Paul and Boucher have had ongoing problems. The attacker, Rene Boucher, 59, has been charged with fourth-degree assault with a minor injury.

David Habich, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the agency was aware of the incident concerning Senator Paul.

CNN was unable to reach a representative of Boucher on Saturday night.
