Corruption is the only identity of Congress: PM Modi

"Their chief minister (Virbhadra Singh) is out on bail in a corruption case and the party writes "zero tolerance on corruption" in their election manifesto", PM Modi said, eliciting laughter and applause from the gathering.

In his interview Surjewala said that the "jumla babu" (Prime minister Modi) is here again with false promises.

Without taking the Gandhi scion's name, Modi said it was sad and shocking that a person, whose great grandfather, grandmother and father were all prime ministers, doesn't trust his country's constitution and elected government.

"Congress has proposed a laundry list of baseless promises as part of their manifesto for the upcoming elections". He said that the first evil who are looting Himachal Pradesh people is Khanan mafias.

People across the country were engaged in Swachhta Abhiyan and were "wiping out" the old party whenever they got the opportunity through elections, Modi said.

The PM also brought up India's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru with reference to the Jan Sangh, which he said was created to counter the Congress through the efforts of leaders like Shanta Kumar, a former CM and a BJP candidate. In fact, I was telling my colleagues, why do you want to send me.We are winning Himachal anyway. Himachal people and Gujarat people should ask them what is the Congress' stand on the issue of Rohingyas. "I can sense the love you all have for the BJP". While recalling contribution of the central government Shah mentioned that during Modi's tenure a grant of Rs 1,15,846 crore was given to the hill state which was two and a half times more than what the state got during UPA government's tenure.

"The government closed down over two lakh shell companies". "The state can only progress if it has the BJP government in the state as well as in the Centre".

Surjewala further added that while he snatched the special category status from the state in 2015 (while restoring it temporarily in 2017), Prime minister Modi and his government has not fulfilled their promises of raising import duty on apples or laying the railway line from Mandi to Leh in Kashmir.

In his view, the Congress was a group of non-serious people, who did not know what they were doing or saying.
