2 confirmed dead, 'multiple parties down' in Colorado Walmart shooting

Police Department reports two men are dead and one woman injured after a shooting at a Walmart store in the city.

Police say there is not an active shooter, but there is an active crime scene.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies respond to the scene of a Walmart store shooting in Thorton, Colorado north of Denver.

It's unclear who fired the shots. Dozens of police cars and emergency vehicles converged at the store. Two men died on the shop floor and the woman died in hospital.

Shoppers at the Walmart in Thornton say they heard gunshots coming from inside the store.

Thornton is city of about 120,000 people roughly 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Denver.

The shooting appears random and there are no indications that it was an act of terror, said Thornton police spokesman Victor Avila. Authorities used security video to help identify the suspect. "Customers were screaming. They were running like insane, and I ran out too because I didn't want to get killed", he said. Police immediately evacuated the mall when they arrived. Employees recalled hiding under a backroom table for several minutes.
