Original Xbox Games Are Coming to Xbox One

Most of Microsoft's messaging around Xbox One X has emphasized how current games are even better on this improved hardware.

There are additional Xbox games coming to Xbox One's expanded backwards capabilities, and that means we could soon see many of our classic favorites in a new light.

Xbox One X will be released worldwide on 7th November and you can check out the recent TV spot down below. First, they'll all have nine times the on-screen pixels as their Xbox 360 versions did. Xbox platform lead Bill Stillwell told IGN that numerous original Xbox game publishers either don't exist anymore or the contacts are just missing. Online multiplayer, however, is impossible as their respective servers have long since been switched off.

If you plan to revive some of these backward compatible titles, you will only need your original game disc or have it in your digital library for download on Xbox One. System Link multiplayer still works, though, for those of you who want to relive the days of old LAN parties.

Are you excited to play KOTOR and the other old school games on Xbox One?

All 13 games on the above list are now available on the Xbox Store for approximately $9.99 each.

I also got to play a bit of Star Wars: KOTOR, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Fuzion Frenzy. There will also be no Achievements for Original Xbox games because this functionality was also not originally available. This allows players on different Xbox consoles to play one another. What's more, it's perhaps easier and less time-consuming to make specific games backwards compatible rather than work with developers to remaster games (and whole series).

You can start playing tomorrow.
