Amazon Studios Chief Roy Price Resigns Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

Deadline reports that Price, who was acting head of the studio, opted to resign from his position amid renewed allegations of sexual harassment as well as a change in the general direction of the company's video priorities.

McGowan added that Amazon Studios "called to say my show was dead" after she asked it "to do the right thing" over a tie-up with The Weinstein Company.

The departure from Amazon follows Price's suspension October 12 from the tech giant's entertainment division on the heels of renewed sexual harassment allegations.

Price was put on leave last week after "The Man in the High Castle" producer Isa Hackett detailed alleged harassment at the hands of the executive. Price was accused by actress Rose McGowan of ignoring her when she reported to him that Weinstein had raped her. Amazon exec Albert Cheng will continue to fill in for Price on an interim basis.

The harassment accusations stemmed from an incident in 2015. Price had declined The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment.

The news comes after Price was placed on a "on leave of absence effective immediately".

Hackett told THR reporter Kim Masters that she reported the improper behavior to Amazon at the time.

The allegations surfaced as revelations of decades of alleged abuse of women by mogul Harvey Weinstein flooded Hollywood.

In another development on Tuesday, Harvey Weinstein resigned from the board of the Weinstein Co., which is struggling to stay afloat.
