Sydney real estate agent wrestles shark out of pool

A woman's courageous antics went viral after footage showed her picking up a shark, wrestling with and before and throwing it back into the sea.

A fearless woman has been nicknamed the "shark wrangler" after she discovered a shark in a swimming pool and boldly picked it up and tossed it back in the ocean.

"My Mum, who swims at Oak Park every morning, called me just after 7 a.m. on Monday and said, 'There's a shark in the rock pool, '" Hatheier told Nine Network's Today show.

"He was pretty distressed and bumping into things, so I just followed him around for a bit", she said.

The bottom-dweller Port Jackson shark is considered harmless to people.

You're going for a quick dip in an ocean pool and you catch sight of a shark in the water: what do you do?

The Oak Park rock pool near Sydney, Australia.

I herded the shark into the shallows and then I just sort of jumped on him and put my knees on his fins.

"I picked him up and thought 'he's not even that heavy".

Hatheier swam into the pool to grab a hold of the shark before carrying it to the edge of the pool and tossing it back into the ocean. I then grabbed him by the neck so he couldn't swing around and bite me. "I just helped the shark relocate to the ocean".

Hatheier told The ABC she may not have been so brazen had the shark been a bigger breed, however.

This video already has over 100,000 views on Facebook and has been shared almost a thousand times.

But - as the video shows - Melissa didn't let the warnings scare her.
