Sylvester Stallone Jumping Back In The Ring To Direct CREED 2

The 71-year-old Hollywood star confirmed he will be working on the movie in 2018 and admitted he was excited about teaming up with "incredibly talented" Michael B. Jordan.

While Stallone only acted in Creed, he had written every other Rocky movie until then, and directed four of the films.

This news comes just over a month after Stallone teased details about the upcoming Rocky spinoff sequel.

As much as we love the original Rocky films, they had some silly moments (like the robot butler in Rocky IV) that should probably be avoided in Creed 2 and any potential sequels. At that time, a representative for MGM stated that the project was still in development. "One more round!" Stallone wrote on Instagram. It also garnered Stallone his first Oscar nod since 1976, when he was nominated for Best Actor and Best Screenplay for his roles on Rocky.

A release date for "Creed 2" has not been set yet. Stallone has hinted that the narrative could connect to the events of 1985's Rocky IV. Creed was a commercial and critical success, earning Stallone raves for his more nuanced performance as the aging ex-fighter.

Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan are both expected to return for the sequel, as well as Dolph Lundgren as Drago.

Stallone's social media feed is now the only source for this news, though we're expecting further announcements to come in the day tomorrow and in the weeks ahead.
