Somehow, the Tigers held on for the 17-16 win.

LSU won the toss and deferred to the second half.

"We couldn't get the plays in so once we got the plays in we had to hurry up and rush", Perine said. The Gators (3-2, 3-1 SEC), lacking explosive playmakers in the passing game, methodically tried to get something going, but ended up failing on fourth-and-3 at its own 25, giving the ball back to LSU on downs.

Etling connected on a 47-yard strike to Chark on the third play of the second half, and then flipped a 2-yard TD pass to Tory Carter to stretch the Tigers' lead to 17-3. Instead, Florida gave up a 30-yard touchdown run to wideout Russell Gage in the first quarter and was stuck playing from behind for the rest of the afternoon. Florida sophomore running back Lamical Perine said the Gators had issues getting plays in quickly enough during the fourth-quarter drives.

"They're just trying to set the Gators up, right?" coach Jim McElwain said.

The LSU band posted an explanation on its Facebook page Sunday, saying that the band has played at the end of the third quarter for the past several decades.

LSU's Danny Etling was 9-of-16 passes for 125 yards, while the quarterback ran nine times for 26 yards.
