Woman orders yoga mat, gets oxycodone instead

According to local police, the Rock Hill resident was waiting for her package on September 30 when her mailman handed her a box around 2 p.m. local time.

A SC woman was shocked when she received a package in the mail containing hundred of thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs.

A SC woman expecting the delivery of a yoga mat instead received almost 20,000 illegal narcotic pills.

After she opened the shipment, the woman alerted local police.

Inside the package, the two bags contained approximately 10,000 pills each at a price of $20 a pill.

The county's drug unit commander, Marvin Brown, believes the package was probably sent there to be picked up by a waiting dealer.

"The dealers weren't as intelligent as they thought they were", said Brown. WSOCTV reported on Monday that the woman received a package of 20,000 oxycodone pills worth $400,000, instead. The homeowner reportedly told officers that she did not know why someone would use her name and address to ship drugs.

Brown said his team will try to trace the package and also see if they can find out where it was headed, and who was supposed to receive it.

According to the shipping label, the package was sent from Newport Beach, California.

"It's scary to think that something like that could be right down the road and so, I'll say, easily accessible", said neighbor Nicole Riddle.

"The suspects go around looking for vacant houses and have stuff mailed to the addresses", Rock Hill Police spokesperson Mark Bollinger said.
