Democrats want Ivanka Trump's security clearance revoked

As the report revealed, Mark Kasowitz, one of Trump's longtime personal attorneys who had donated thousands of dollars to the reelection campaign of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, asked Vance to drop the investigation.

Just before the 2012 meeting, Vance had returned Kasowitz's $25,000 contribution to the D.A.'s re-election campaign, saying Kasowitz "had no influence and his contributions had no influence whatsoever on my decision-making in the case".

Months after the investigation was dropped by the District Attorney, Kasowitz threw Vance a fundraiser and personally donated nearly $32,000, according to the New Yorker.

"I did not at the time believe beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime had been committed", he said. "I had to make a call and I made the call, and I think I made the right call".

Donald Trump and his children Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for Trump SoHo New York at Trump SoHo in 2010. Reportedly, there was "no doubt" that they "approved, knew of, agreed to, and intentionally inflated the numbers to make more sales", the source explained. But according to a sworn affidavit by a Trump partner filed with the NY attorney general's office, Ivanka was outright lying: "by March of 2010, nearly two years after the press conference, only 15.8 percent of units had been sold", ProPublica writes-barely cracking the 15-percent the project needed to stay afloat.

But neither figures were true. In another, according to a person who read the e-mails, they anxious that a reporter might be on to them. In fact, the buyers' attorney even wrote a letter to the district attorney claiming the Trumps hadn't violated any laws. Vance has told the reporting team that he will return Kasowitz's second contribution, as well.

The reporters have several unnamed sources who said Kasowitz "boasted" about being able to get the two Trump children off in what he called a "really dangerous" case. According to a sworn affidavit made by a Trump partner to the New York Attorney General's office, only 15.8 of units had been sold by March 2010. He stated that the case was "really risky". Vance's campaign returned the donation before the meeting, but Kasowitz later made a larger donation and helped raise more from other donors - more than $50,000, according to the outlet.

Two Democratic lawmakers are calling on the White House to revoke the security clearances of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, citing reports that they say demonstrate a "brazen disregard for ethics and their apparent intention to skirt good governance rules". Some buyers who felt misled sued the Trump Organization and others involved in the project in NY federal court in 2010.

According to emails obtained by the journalists, the Trump siblings created a knowingly false message to send to potential buyers in the hopes of selling rooms in their struggling real-estate venture. Vance told the news organizations he plans to give back that donation-more than four years after it was made.

According to ProPublica, the Trump SoHo went into foreclosure in 2014, and only 33 percent of units have been sold, while a creditor has taken over ownership.
