Chelsea star Morata to skip Champions League clashes against Roma

The Spain global limped off during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

I don't think it's a serious problem because he stopped before it will become a serious injury.

The 24-year-old, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid during the summer for GBP 70million, was withdrawn from Spain's World Cup Qualifiers against Albania on Friday and Israel on Monday because of the problem.

Chelsea suffered a significant blow yesterday when the Spanish Football Federation reported that Álvaro Morata has suffered a grade-two hamstring injury that could rule him out for more than a month.

Other experts say Morata could face eight weeks out, but Chelsea have still not placed an official time frame on his comeback.

Michy Batshuayi is the obvious replacement for Morata, but Conte had rarely turned to the young striker to lead Chelsea's line.

The forward has been in positive form for the English champions, scoring six Premier League goals and one in the Champions League so far.

Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace after the worldwide break, which Morata appears likely to miss, and also face Roma twice in the Champions League during October.

Conte wanted to bring in Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, but Chelsea were beaten to his signature by Tottenham Hotspur and Tammy Abraham was allowed to join the Welsh club on loan.
