The project is expected to get a soft loan of Rs 88,000 crore from Japan. Well, a special arrangement is done to receive Abe from Airport.

On Thursday, Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe will participate in the path-breaking ceremony of the bullet-train inauguration. Ahmedabad is fully decked up to greet Abe.

Both Japan and India will work towards enhancing cooperation on the global level in the Asian and African countries with a focus on infrastructure.

According to an official itinerary, both the Prime Ministers would fly into Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon and will be taken straight to Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram. The two Prime Ministers were also photographed against the picturesque monument against the fading sunlight.

After which, Modi and Abe will head towards Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar and will indulge in delegation level talks. "I will be hosting him in Gujarat in our fourth annual summit together".

The government has formed a new entity, National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd to implement the ambitious project, which is expected to be completed by 2022. India has been involved in developmental as well as infrastructural projects in Asia and Africa but joining hands with Japan, a more capable power with a larger kitty and advanced technologies, can become effective and efficient. They will also watch a presentation about Ahmedabad- India's first UNESCO World Heritage City.

Besides all these, a roadshow in Ahmedabad is also ahead of all arrangement on Wednesday.

This was the first time Mr. Modi went on a joint roadshow with the head of a country in his home state, which goes to the polls in two months.

The two leaders last met in July on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. These are areas that India should be focusing on as these could be expanded under the "Make in India" initiative and build partnerships between Indian and Japanese small and medium size enterprises as well.

After the welcome, Mr. Abe was given a Guard of Honour, following which artists performed a folk dance, showcasing the cultural traditions of Gujarat and other States. The two leaders attended a grand aarti organised on the banks of the Ganga, against the background of Modi securing Japanese funds to clean the river.

Later, Modi hosted dinner for Abe and Akie at famous "Agashiye" restaurant, known for its elegance and kosher Gujarati cuisine.

"China is pleased to see the infrastructure cooperation among regional countries, including the high-speed railway", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said.
