Kuwait Emir to hold talks with Trump

President Donald Trump's oldest son is scheduled to make his first appearance on Capitol Hill Thursday as part of a Senate investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election and a meeting he had with Russians during his father's campaign a year ago.

On September 7, President Donald Trump met with the leader of Kuwait, Amir al-Sabah, who has tried to mediate between Qatar and other Gulf States. They say it is the world's most complex and hard deal, you know that. He applauded Kuwait's "critical contributions to regional stability" and repeated an offer to mediate himself, particularly between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain cut diplomatic and trade links with Qatar on June 5, suspending air and shipping routes with the world's biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas, which is home to the region's biggest USA military base.

Mr Trump first appeared to support Saudi Arabia in the crisis, but later came around to supporting Mr Tillerson's diplomatic efforts.

Sheikh Sabah claimed that the Qatari government was ready to discuss a list of 13 demands from its Arab neighbors. But he said: "We're going to give it our best". Although Qatar has rejected some of them out of hand, Sheikh Sabah said he believed negotiations were possible.

Saudi Arabia and its allies accuse Qatar, the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, of ties to Iran and to terrorist groups.

During a friendly meeting with the NY and New Jersey congressional delegations about a $30 billion tunnel project, Trump was in a good mood - most likely a result of his deal with Democrats reached on Wednesday to suspend the federal debt ceiling and fund the government for three months, as well as provide Hurricane Harvey relief aid.

Trump plans to meet both Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly later this month.
