Kylian Mbappe reveals he turned down Arsene Wenger to sign for PSG

Kylian Mbappe has said that while he was attracted by the chance to play alongside the "extraordinary" Neymar, he made the decision to join Paris Saint-German this summer because of the club's ambition as he set his sights on the Champions League. According to L'Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain will pay for the deal 180 million euros ($214 million).

The owners went ahead and reeled in Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record €222m, fee and then simply went and signed Kylian Mbappe on a season-long loan, with the price assumed to be €180m for next summer.

PSG now boast one of the most exciting front-lines in world football, and Mbappe was keen to post an image alongside his new teammate following a busy Tuesday for the France worldwide.

Mbappe was in sensational form last season for Monaco, goals firing the Ligue 1 club to the French title and semi-finals of the Champions League.

"It was important for me not to leave France after just six months at the highest level".

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi said that Mbappe chose the French capital team, despite receiving offers from large European clubs, because Paris was his hometown, and PSG is in his heart.

Pele, who won three World Cups with Brazil, says the move will give Neymar an even better opportunity to showcase his talents.

"Being here is like going back home for me. So it was up to me and I made a decision to come here in order to develop".

Praising United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward for predicting the market surge, Mourinho told The Times: "I think we were very clever".

"We have been transparent with UEFA", Al-Khelaifi said. I have a lot of respect for (Monaco vice president) Vadim Vasilyev, who is a remarkable man.
