Arsene Wenger admits uncertainty over his future affected Arsenal last season

Giroud's clever header in the 85th minute secured the points after Lacazette had taken just 94 seconds to make his mark with a header from Mohamed Elneny's curling cross, equalling the record for the fastest opening goal in a Premier League season.

But Arsene Wenger's double change turned the game, FA Cup final hero Ramsey drilling in an 83rd-minute equaliser and Giroud notching the victor two minutes later with a header that hit the bar and bounced over the line.

Arsenal record-signing Alexandre Lacazette got off to a ideal by scoring inside two minutes of kickoff.

Vardy then slid the visitors ahead from Marc Albrighton's cross, before Danny Welbeck drew Arsenal level at the end of a pulsating opening half.

But Leicester, which so astonishingly won the league in 2016, couldn't hold on for its first win at Arsenal since 1973.

He enjoyed a quieter season a year ago as Leicester finished in mid-table and - despite his new contract - has once again angled for a move away.

With this match, the English top-flight season will begin on a Friday for the first time in its 129-year history.

Two minutes later, the comeback was complete, with super-sub Giroud sending the home fans wild via magnificent header from a Xhaka corner, despite being held by Wes Morgan.

The left-back, who signed from Schalke on a free transfer, has already made an impact, scoring Arsenal's equaliser as they went on to beat Chelsea on penalties in the Community Shield last Sunday.

But perhaps the answer that baffled Wenger the most was when the German defender said his favourite pet animal was a guinea pig.

Ibrahimovic was Manchester United's leading scorer last season after his move from Paris Saint-Germain - although his 28 goals in 46 appearances was actually well below his average in France, where he netted 156 goals in 180 games over four years.

Arsene Wenger is hopeful new signing Alexandre Lacazette can follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and transfer his sensational goalscoring ratio into the Premier League.

"I opened the door for him at some stage as I had many strikers and it's important for him to play but I don't want him to go".

"The quality of their players, their fan base and the money that they can spend, they've always been risky", Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare said.

"It will be interesting to see how he interacts with Jamie Vardy".

Shinji Okazaki had Granit Xhaka in fairly close attendance, but was more determined thrusting himself at the ball to nod in from close range.
