Ruling made in woman's death on Ocean City, Md., beach

Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death behind the mysterious body buried on 2nd Street in Ocean City accidental.

O'Connor was 30 years old from Texas and had been vacationing with her parents when they became separated. A beachgoer discovered her body at about 6:30 a.m. Monday. She died of asphyxiation and suffocation, the medical examiner said. It's not clear if she fell or climbed into the hole, police said.

That portion of the beach was closed for much of the day as emergency crews worked to remove her body. They also alerted the public of the ongoing investigation through their Facebook account.

The details surrounding the death are unknown, but investigators believe she may have fallen into the hole. Officials were still awaiting toxicology reports to determine if alcohol played a role in O'Connor's death.

"There are situations where the fun goes too far, and you're putting your children or your children are putting themselves in danger if the holes are too deep", Lee said. Richard said it was "pretty much conclusively ruled out" that someone put O'Conner in the hole.

"In the early hours of July 31st, heaven gained another angel, Ashley O'Connor".

O'Connor was recently married and had just started a painting business with her wife, Janet, according to a GoFundMe page established to help pay for expenses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ocean City Police Department Major Crimes Unit at 410-723-6604.
