Headquartered in Delray Beach, Fl., Alfred Angelo Bridal designs wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and wedding accessories.

The Palm Beach Post, local newspaper of the company's Florida headquarters, reports that employees streamed out of the building all day yesterday carrying boxes and plants.

According to, brides rushed to the Arnold Angelo store in DeWitt, New York, on Thursday to pick up their dresses or inquire about ones they had ordered, only to be met by puzzled store employees who had just heard the news hours earlier.

Jordan Schulman, vice president of Pearl's Place in Metairie, which carries Alfred Angelo dresses, said news of the closures came out of nowhere. However, some clients said they had been told that they could still pick up their wedding gowns that had been finished and were in stores.

Other brides took out their frustration on social media.

Alfred Angelo's attorney has not yet released any statement over the development and it remains unclear when they would do so. When Debany and her co-workers tried to call the Alfred Angelo customer service center three days ago, they were told it was experiencing phone troubles.

Employees of Alfred Angelo Bridal locked their doors for the last time after telling customers the company has gone bankrupt. The move has incensed brides-to-be across the country - many of whom have already put down hundreds of dollars in deposits for wedding and bridesmaid dresses.

"It may not seem like a big deal to people but when I say I'm on a tight budget, I'm on a very tight budget", she said. Her wedding is October 1, and she is still waiting for several bridesmaid dresses.

Calls to both stores Friday morning went unanswered, and a recording at each implied that the businesses were operating as usual.

The owners of Brides and Grooms in Pikesville said this is bad for business. "It just hurts", she said. The company since grew to operating more than 60 stores nationwide and selling merchandise in more than 1,400 retail stores across the USA and around the globe. She adds that she has about 50 brides now waiting on dresses from her shop and the company has been vague about what the closure means for those brides.
