Celebrate Pokemon Go's One-Year Anniversary With A Hat-Wearing Pikachu

This month celebrates the one-year anniversary of Pokemon GO, which took the mobile gaming market (and by extension the world) by storm in the summer of 2016. An anniversary event runs from today until July 24th, with discounts and a special Pikachu offered up to trainers around the world.

The in-game shop will be selling Anniversary Boxes during that just over two week period.

The main difference between the present Pikachu and the usual electric rat is in the cap of Ash, the protagonist of the animated series of Pokémon.

These anniversary boxes include Incubators, Max Revivesm Ultra Balls and Raid Passes. This is a special, limited-time deal specifically for Pokemon Go's first birthday, Niantic announced. But for now, we'll have to be contented with a new costumed Pikachu in our collection. And just last month, Niantic said it will hold huge, in-person events for the biggest Pokemon Go fans.

The historic city of Chester will see various events stages across the weekend of 22nd-23rd July, including activities based as the famous Chester Castle, which will be open to the public for the first time in 20 years. As a side note, Pokemon GO players have thus far caught a whopping 125 billion Pokemon.

According to Reddit user, legoturtle92, Niantic Labs is planning to bring a rare Pikachu to Pokemon Go.

Chester will play host to Pokémon GO Trainers visiting the United Kingdom from around the world, turning historical sites into PokéStops that players can interact with.
